Creepy Abandoned Japanese Amusement Park That Can’t Be Found On Any Map
May 8th, 2015
In the Fukushima Prefecture region of Japan, there is an abandoned park formerly known as Takakanonuma Greenland. There isn’t much information that is known about the park because it wasn’t open for very long. The fact that so little is known about the place, and the fact that it doesn’t exist on any map only makes this amusement park much more creepy.
As it needed to be any more creepy in the first place!
From what we gather, the park originally opened in 1973, but was quickly closed down in 1975.
No reports exists as to why the park closed in 1975, a mere two years after it had opened. Some say that it had to do with several deaths that occurred in the park.
The park was reopened in 1986 and actually operated consistently until 1999. It was abandoned again when the economy took a turn for the worse.
Since that time, the park has been completely abandoned.
The forest and shrubbery around the park are slowly inching their way back and reclaiming the land.
Some of the statues are still standing, though they are now chipped and rusted.
The remnants of Takakanonuma Greenland are seemingly always draped in a layer of fog. This only makes the site more creepy.
For those interested in visiting Takakanonuma Greenland, good luck. The park isn’t located on any map.
According to its Japanese Wikipedia page, the GPS coordinates of the park are allegedly 37.805,140.519167, if you want to try your luck. No one knows what you’ll find there.
We wouldn’t fancy a ride on that rusty coaster…
